Question about the difference from Maya2008 and Maya2010.
on Apr 7, 2010 at 4:41:08 pm

I have followed the entire tutorial about:

"Digital Tutors – Rigging Cartoon Vehicles in Maya"
In the chapter 52, at the end of the movie, the author digits the MEL script called:
"smooth_div_connect.mel"
OK!

After that, in Maya2008 it enter in one Toolbar field, this little word:

polySmoothFace'

1) I haven't understood where is this void white field in Maya2010, because seems that from Maya2008 version to Maya2010 version, this field was deleted.
- Is this field a miniscript window?
- What is this little field?

2) In wich consists this word command " polySmoothFace' "?
- This command apply a face smooth?
- Or it is the same command that is in the menu Polygons>Mesh>Smooth?
- It apply a second "REALLY_High" smooth level?

Please see this screenshot about my problem:

Thanks for a response!

Ok!
I have found the solution:
Prior to all delete all instances of polySmoothFace Nodes, to avoid double smoothing to the polygons!

- In Toolbar Switch from AbsoluteTransform box to SelectByName
- Enter in the white field the word " polySmoothFace* "
All the polySmoothFace Nodes are now selected.
- Press Delete keyboard

After that:

1) In Toolbar Switch from AbsoluteTransform box to SelectByName
2) Enter in the white field the word " polySmoothFace* "
All the polySmoothFace Nodes are now selected.

3) With this selection active Execute the MEL Script " smooth_div_connect.mel "

Now the level of the smooth is correct; and with the circle control rig "cc_drive01" selected, you can switch from "Low" to "High" and to "REALLY High" level of smoothing!
