volume shader

Hello everyone.
I am currently trying to make an object that looks like it is full of jelly, or water, or something like that. I am working in mental ray and there will be lots of this object, so I would like to keep render times reasonable. Think of a cell that is filled with little bits of stuff floating around in its cytoplasm. So what is the best way to achieve this and keep a "realistic" look?
On a sort of related note. I found this http://www.dl3d.com/index.php/en/products/mentalray-volume-texture-shader.h...
Take a look down the page at the videos. That sort of thing would be great, but his product is not yet available. Any idea how to achieve something like that?
Thanks in advance!
