skinning and paint weights

skinning and paint weights

After applying the skinner plugin to the model, in maya I tried to alter the skin weights ,but i got weird results. How to fix it?

Vertex skin weights should add up to 1. When you are painting skin weights Maya will normalize skin weights for you, but probably not in the way you want. The best way I've found is to select the vertices I want to edit then use the Window>ComponentEditor>SkinWeights and look to see what joints are influencing my vertices, and use a combination of locking influences and manually editing the spreadsheet to get the sum of all influences equal to one. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your suggestion.
But my doubt was can we still control the vertices even after applying Skinner plug in.
