splash.dll error message
on Nov 20, 2009 at 11:24:29 pm

I'm new to Maya. I have it loaded on a Win7 laptop. I'm getting an error message at start-up. I get 3 of them, all saying the same thing, "This program cannot start because splash.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." I close all three, and then the program opens, and as far as I can tell, operates normally. I tried reinstalling the program with no change. Anybody having the same trouble? Is it a glitch with Win7?

Many thanks,
Sam Behrens

hi, here is the solution Autodesk gives:
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=13937843&l...

it says that problem appears when u have 3ds max and maya 2010 in the same computer.

but i don;t know what to do? with that.
Issue
Maya.exe cannot start because splash.dll is missing.

Solution
This error will happen if you have Maya 2010 and 3dsMax 2010 on the same computer. You will need to set the following environment variable for Maya:

set MAYA_DISABLE_CIP=1

to set that where?
from where?
i don;t undertand.

Charles, thanks for the reply. I can't figure it out. Still can't find the solution, but it's not keeping me from using Maya, so no biggie.

just go to your system environment variables and set MAYA_DISABLE_CIP and value is 1

friend,
paste this code in a text file and rename it with Maya.env
notice the M in maya is a capital letter
paste this file in the following path:
Documents\maya\2010
ok to the replacement message
restart maya and this should fix it

I had the same issue and didn't find the .env file. I did check in system32 and saw that infact the splash.dll file was missing. After I downloaded it and moved it into the system32 folder under windows I no longer has the error code showing up. You can download it here ---> http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/S/Splash.dll/2,1...
