"object not found" message
on Oct 13, 2009 at 1:47:55 pm

Fairly new Maya user, I get an "object not found" message when I add a material to my polygonal object. I can see the material on the object and when I render, but when I reload my project, the material does not show up. I can reload the file and then I can see the material, but still get the message. This has been going on intermittently for some time and it is getting aggravating. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

For whatever it's worth, I sometimes run into this with projects where I have created lot's of textures from files that reside in many nooks and crannies all over my computer and I have to sometimes create the texture again and reassign it to an object. Sometimes looking at what the script editor says can lead you in the right direction.

Sorry I can't be more specific. STU

I know alot....but not as much as the other guy.

Thanks for the help Stuart. As far as the script editor, it still seems forgeign to me, but I'm learning. I have discovered that the problem occurs with the Blinn and Anistropic shaders only. Maybe I need to reinstall...
