maya scale issue
on Aug 8, 2009 at 8:45:19 am

Hi, i'm beginner and hope that someone can explain/help.
I have scale "issue".
1. I created polygon cylinder and i can scale it as i like. But if i set one value example Y value to 0 then the scale tool manipulator doesn't allow me to scale Y value. If i type in channel box value 1 its working again. Why?
2. Real issue — i have polygon and i need to add thickness http://muna.planet.ee/maya/Picture%2016.png
When i do that (add 0.5) it goes crazy http://muna.planet.ee/maya/Picture%2017.png
(adding 0.00006 does that http://muna.planet.ee/maya/Picture%2018.png )
Bug?

If i do a another polygon (new) cylinder it works correctly (except this number 1 issue).

1. that's the way it's supposed to work. If you divide or multiply with 0, it has no effect..
2. not sure if I understand you correctly, but the way to make thickness to a plane would be to extrude it. Try to right click your object and chose select faces, select the faces you want from your objct, and then chose edit mesh-extrude.
