Rigging smoothed and unsmoothed objects
on Jul 31, 2009 at 7:20:51 pm

Hi all!
Hope someone can help please :)

I am making a character on maya. The body is quite square so is unsmoothed but I want him to have a smoothed hand. I have modelled the hand seperately so that i can smooth it seperately but here lies my problem.
I have to now combine the smoothed hand and the unsmoothed arm so that I can rig it properly onto one skeleton. However i dont want to animate with a smoothed hand as it will be slower, but I cant smooth it properly once its combined to the arm, which it has to be to rig the skeleton.
So how do i work? Do i combine them and animate with a smoothed hand, or do I not combine them, but then the rig wont bind to two objects?

Im quite confused as to how to combine a smoothed object with an unsmoothed object really!
Hope ive explained that ok?

Thanks in advance!
Simeon :)

Hi

You can bind any number of object you need, no need to combine them.
