using Maya 6 & 7 books for Maya 2008
on Jun 21, 2009 at 11:47:12 pm

Hello,

I am hoping that someone can help me. I am a student.
I bought Maya 2008. I now have a chance to get three used
books for Maya 6 & 7 for prices that students can afford.

I am concerned if Autodesk has done major re-do of the
commands and menus since the earlier versions. If I could
use the older books it would save me a lot of money. I
understand that there have to be some changes as new features
are added.

I googled to see if I could locate a website that would
contain this information but had no luck. I tried to get
this information from AutoDesk but no one replied.

Thanks very much for your time and attention.

You are correct in thinking that they have done some changes to the interface between Maya 6-7 to 2008. But most of the information and techniques in those books will still apply. If you are just a beginner then I recommend purchasing these books to get a start. If you come across any problems you should easily be able to find out how to get around them by doing a search online or by posting to this forum. Sure the interface has changed but all of the operations are still available from the previous versions. I hope this helps.

Matt..
