problem exporting from Mac to PC
on May 19, 2009 at 1:51:36 am

Hi I am at present on a cource with NatCol here in christchurch NZ. I am having problems opening .MB files, which have been downloaded to a flash drive from the Macs at MatCol, on my home PC. I am told there should be no problem as the versions are the same ,ie Maya 2008.
Any help or suggestions very welcome.

Hi, I'm at Natcoll Christchurch at the moment too. For the most part my files work between home and Natcoll fine, however when I start a new object, as soon as I open the file on my home PC it is as though it corrupts the file somehow. Points, polys and vertices from the area I was working on are randomly deleted, merged or moved. Pain in the arse as it seriously slows down what I can do.

hi Nate

Try saving your files in both .ma and .mb
I guess you are using the same version of maya in both places, if not, the .ma file helps you transition to older versions, just open it in a text editor and edit the maya version.

the other thing that can help you is to freeze the model and delete modeling history, hope you haven't rig anything yet :D

hope that helps
