Converting model/texture into a single entity

Hi!

Suppose you created a model from multiple primitives and each primitive has a different texture. How would you go about converting the model into a single entity with a single texture file? I'm more interested in getting a single texture file for the entire model.

Thank you!

well, you have to combine the model and then you could bake the texture
that could do it

you could also combine the model uv it and then add just one texture to that

you could also make different uv maps but I don't like it and is weird and complex

I'll go for the combine model and make uvs for that

Hi, thanks a lot for your answer...
Although I didn't quite grasp the technical part of it... do you think you could provide a little bit more detail on it? I understand the combine part, but the rest I don't think I have much experience with it...
Thanks a lot!

Hi

You can do it with the Transfer Maps... tool in Lighting/Shading
the problem you are gonna face is the uvs if all the pieces use the same space
in the uvs they will mix up

Hey... Transfer Maps doesn't seem to be doing anything...
And you're right, I'm trying to set up a model for a game...
I still can't get the texture file. I have multiple shaders for the same object, how do I combine the shaders into a single shader so that I can bake it out successfully?

Well I looked up baking in Maya and it seems you can only bake 1 shader at a time... I'm interested in baking more than 1 shader (for the same (combined) model) at a time since my model has multiple shaders...

I think the workflow would be like this

model from primitives / combine them / then UV them/ and then adding the textures

if you need to have only one texture, but I'm not sure why you need only one, unless you are doing a game or something like that
