UV mapping for NURBS surfaces
on Apr 28, 2009 at 12:27:01 am

I'm texturing a bullet with a file texture, bump map, ect. and I'm having trouble positioning the texture on the surface. How do you map out where the texture lies on a NURBS surface, I want to slide it up/down to make it look right.

hi

NURBS surfaces have UVs build in, modify the options in the place2dTexture1 node, second tab in the texture properties

Thanks! Another quick question, I'm on maya 8.5. For some reason a place2Dtexture node isn't created when I plug a file texture into the shader, I have to make one manually. Why is this, every tutorial I've seen, Maya does it automaticaly

Hi

Open the Hypershade, in the create menu all the way down, there's create options, check if you have INCLUDE PLACEMENT WITH TEXTURES turned ON

Hi
I don't know whether this type of post is okay in this forum.
My question is I have an issue with texturing.
I have modeled a face using polygon proxy when I textured it and moved its lips (using blending options) the texture stays at the same place. I.e. the lips move but lipstic stays at the same place.

Kindly tell me how to get around this.

Thanks

Hi

I guess you did a UV projection, so, you just need to delete modeling history on your mesh, so that the UVs stick to it.

Select the mesh, Go to, Edit > Delete by Type > Non-Deformer History

that'll do it

Hi Alvaro,

Thanks for your very useful response - which opens a solution for my issue.
Can you explain me a bit about UV projection (as to how to do it). Or is it just Nurbs texturing as a projection?

Thanks

Buvaneka
