Render Ambient Occlusion as Alpha - ie. No white area just the shadow

Hello,

I'm have a simple scene with an object sitting on a plane. The plane has mib_illum_lambert - with ambient connected to mib_amb_occlusion, Ambient Occlusion.

I really like the shadows that the Amb_Occ plane receives, but i don't want all of the white area that comes with the shadow.

Is there any way to render just the Amb_Occ shadow? i.e. the shadow as alpha?

thanks
Dave

Hi

What I do is, I use any standard shader like Lambert, then plug the occlusion to the ambient color, that gives me the occ effect and leaves the shader free for any other texturing, I can plug my texture to color and the effect stays there.

also you could try with a layered texture add, the occlusion node first then another texture and change the blend mode for the occlusion to multiply, that will leave the shadow and let the other texture freely pass in the white areas

is kinda the same both options
but see what works best for your project
