im very new to 3D but i want to pick it up so i would like to know what 3D program would be most user friendly or easier to understand that allows me to take an already made logo from photo shop and make it 3D so that it doesnt look flat?

Even though this is a Maya forum, I will recommend a couple of options that are not Maya. The reason is that Maya is a deep pool of water that you will most likely not need most of it. It has a lot of character animation capabilities that you will just not get into.

First, is Cinema4D. It is probably the most accessible complete 3D package available. It has the best AE workflow and the mograph module is really fantastic. It is just as pricey as Maya when you get the full bundle but, it will be a lot better to get started with.

If that is too pricey, then you could look into 3D invigorator from Zaxwerks. It is an AE plugin that will let you generate 3D within AE. It will do 3D logos very well and most likely get you what you need.
