Car Crash

I need to simulate a realistic car crash for a movie i'm filming, without actually crashing a car. I had first considered doing this in after effects, but realized it may be easier to do in Maya. I am just a beginner with the program, so any help would be much appreciated. So far i just have the car. I've tried using a crack shatter effect for the windshield, but cant seem to get it right. I may just be trying the srong variables for the shatter effect, or may have an entirely wrong approach. Any ideas on how to crack the windshield or crash the front end of the car?

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks :)
Tim

dont use rack shatter. just go through blend shapes.

Create a car used SubD or whatever.

Then duplicate that model and modyfy as a crashed car.

Now you have 2 models.

Now apply blend shapes and try it.

Amzing. . . . it will work 4 u.

And create debris and instance with particles and start the particle animation with the same keyframe that start of your crash.

Now you have nice car crash and some detailes debris.

so try it. good luck . .. . .
