Transfer UVs from one object to another

I’m transferring UVs from one tire to the other 3. All works fine until I smooth or otherwise alter the original. I can’t delete history because the tires have deformers on them. I’ve tried deleting non-deformer history but that doesn’t affect it.

How do I kill the transfer attributes connection after I transfer so that the UVs are local to each object and not dependent upon the original?

I found a solution to this, is kinda complicated

You first need to duplicate your target object let's say TIRE_2
transfer UVs to that, delete history on that object
then replace that geometry

that would work

Thanks for the quick response. Will this work if the car and tires are already rigged?

I'll give it a shot. Thank you very much.

Just to be clear: Duplicate geometry. Transfer UVs to duplicate. Delete history on duplicate. Replace original target tire with duplicate.

Do I have that right?
