render problems with big size image
on Mar 3, 2009 at 9:32:31 am

I'm trying to render a big size image use command line, I ran into a problem.
I export my sence file in a directory(i'm using a mac):
vin2/CGI/Practice/renal/renalmr.mi

I type in lines:

render -x 2000 -y 1500 -reg 0 999 0 1500 -rd /VIN2/CGI/Practice/renal -im part1 renalmr.mi

and it start running

Starting "/Applications/Autodesk/maya2009/Maya.app/Contents/bin/maya"

but I get

Error: File not found.:
Error: Cannot load scene "renalmr.mi". Please check the scene name.
// Maya exited with status 209

Can anyone tell what went wrong?

Hi your problem is not the size, is the path to your file, try adding the full path to your file, even if you are in that folder, that'll work

YES! you'r right, I've got it done! Thanks a lot!

but another issue came up.
Here's what I type in a .bat file
render -x 2000 -y 1600 -reg 0 999 0 799 -im part1 -r mr /Volumes/VIN2/CGI/renal.mb
render -x 2000 -y 1600 -reg 0 499 800 1599 -im part2 -r mr /Volumes/VIN2/CGI/renal.mb
render -x 2000 -y 1600 -reg 1000 1999 0 799 -im part3 -r mr /Volumes/VIN2/CGI/renal.mb
render -x 2000 -y 1600 -reg 1000 1499 800 1599 -im part4 -r mr /Volumes/VIN2/CGI/renal.mb

and it start rendering, but....
It only render in my master mac, nothing happened in my slave mac, I use mentalray satellite, I've chacked every mac that runs satellite, to make sure that service is up and using port 7109, and so is the master mac chacked, I set my router port for 7109, and place a rayhost file in maya pref folder with all the macs ips and port, like this one 192.168.0.107:7109.
when render started, mental ray did look for the rayhost file and the mac with the ips listed in that file, but it returns error.
I am very very not good at command line, Please help!

Here is what I did for the mental ray satellite 2009.
I insatlled maya 2009 and satellite in my master mac, next, chack the sat is running or not, I follow the intruction by typing command line in terminal:
sudo -s

//than type in the password of admin//

sudo launchclt list

//a long list is pop out//
.
.
.
- 0 com.autodesk.mentalraysat2009

//in the list I find this, which I think it is indicated that mentalraysat2009 is running, I guess//

Then I open the /etc/services to chack out what port does the mentalraysat2009 using, it turns out correcttly, it's 7109.
So i start to install mentalraysat2009 in other slave macs, and do the same thing again to make sure that every mac is install correcttly and running in the same port 7109.

One other thing is I turn off render in local in maya batch render.

I don't know what else is missing......
it is so hard for me as I'm not a English tongue, nor a programmer, my major is art! and art is not compatible with machines!
so please bare with my poor English and stupidity.

in the error message, I notice one line says:
MSG 0.0 warn 012219: using fallback inet service 7003

so I think maybe it's the port problem, so I change every computer's port that satellite using to 7003, and also change the rayhost file and open the 7003 port in router too.

this time I get different error message

// mental ray for Maya: using rayhosts file /Users/apple/Library/Preferences/Autodesk/maya/2009/prefs//maya.rayhosts
MSG 0.0 warn 012229: could not connect to host:port 192.168.0.107:7003 - Connection refused (IPv4)
MSG 0.0 error 011228: mi_msg_connect: failed to create active socket
MSG 0.0 error 011706: cannot add host 192.168.0.107:7003
MSG 0.0 warn 012229: could not connect to host:port 192.168.0.108:7003 - Connection refused (IPv4)
MSG 0.0 error 011228: mi_msg_connect: failed to create active socket
MSG 0.0 error 011706: cannot add host 192.168.0.108:7003
MSG 0.0 warn 012229: could not connect to host:port 192.168.0.105:7003 - Connection refused (IPv4)
MSG 0.0 error 011228: mi_msg_connect: failed to create active socket
MSG 0.0 error 011706: cannot add host 192.168.0.105:7003
