animating planes taking off with particle-instances

Hi there

I'm a newbie in maya and need to setup te following scene
a person stands in the middle of a field surrounded by a flock of paper airplanes.
and then they start to take off, first in the center, going outwards.

i thought that the best way to do this would be to create 1 plane, sketch particles where i want all the planes to be and use the instancer combined with a vortexfield and a reversed gravityfield. set instancer-rotation to force, fields with animated cylindervolumes (from center to size of the field).

Do you think this would be a good approach? Are there other options?

Hi Frank

I think you had a very nice idea for doing this, that might work fine and could give the best results, that thing with particles and fields is BE PATIENT, they never do what you need right away, tweak and tweak till you drop, :D
