Hand writing along a PFX stroke

Hi, i'm having a little trouble with a tutorial i came across over at Highend3D (http://www.highendnet.com/maya/tutorials/paint_fx/290.html). I need to be able to hand write a full sentence including lower case i's. I managed to follow the tutorial and create one word easily enough via a single stroke, but now i need to string together multiple words and i'm not sure how to facilitate this with the pencil. As seen in the tutorial, the pencil is attached to the first stroke (first word) which is where the problem lies - i need to connect the pencil to multiple strokes which would allow me to playback a whole sentence instead of a single word.

Has anyone every had to produce hand writing in Maya before and if so, what method did you implement? I'm thinking there has to be some way of merging PFX strokes to allow this...

Thanks,

Paul K

make each word in sequence, with a new pen for each, then ad another pen for the transition between them, or just match the end with the start of the next word, that might do it.
