Making round holes in a cylinder!?!
on Oct 27, 2008 at 10:03:34 pm

I am doing a group animation project for my degree which involves modelling an environment which looks like it has been sewn together. The clouds in the sky are meant to look like lots of white buttons.
I was given the "simple" task of modelling the buttons, but am struggling to make holes in the top of a cylinder, what is the easiest way to go about this? Thanks

Probably a Boolean operation is your best bet. Put another cylinder where you want the hole to be, then select the button, then the new cylinder, then Boolean -> Subtract.

There's a version for polys and a version for NURBS. Each has strengths and drawbacks.
