Please Help, displacement map won't work.

when i render using mental ray, or any of the render options, the suface comes out blank, no raised parts at all. If i use bump2d or one of the other tools it works. In my hyper shade network i have:

uvchooser
place2dtexture
file
blinn
blinn3SG
displacementshader
pcylindershape

the network:

pcylindershape connects with 2 lines, one in either direction, to blinn3SG as well as one line to uvchooser.

uvchooser connects place2dtexture connects file connects displacementshader connects blinn3SG connects blinn

does anyone know what i'm doing wrong?

it looks good. I'm wondering if the ins/outs are wrong somehow.
starting from your file...

FILE to displacementShader:
'file.outAlpha -> displacementShader.displacement'

displacementShader to Blinn3SG
'displacementShader.displacement -> Blinn3SG.displacementShader'

blinn3SG from blinn
'blinn3SG.surfaceShader <- blinn2outColor'

Yeah the ins and outs are exactly as you described, i found a way round the problem though. i'm just gonna make my deisplacement map work on my default uv set. It's not ideal, i'd still like to figure out why it doesn't work though.
