Brand new Maya user here! I basically know nothing about 3d, so go easy on me!! Got some books winging their way to me soon though!
Basically, I'm attempting to go through Andrew Kramer's "The Bullet" DVD and it doesn't have 3d instructions for Maya. I've managed to model the bullet to my liking after a lot of trial and error and I've now got onto the texturing, which is driving me insane!!!
I can't get the diffuse map and the bump map to line up properly and I think this is because its hugging the surface and the grooves that are supposed to be on the outside end up in the little hole at the end.
So, after looking around for a while, I thought I found the answer in doing a projection mapping thing only that is even more complicated and I really cant figure out what to do!! It all seems so simple in 3ds max!!
Any help you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated!
