I'm not really sure this isn't irrelevant for Maya either. You should specify what you're interested in exactly and how the supplied tutorial doesn't cover it. If you're wanting to pull off a stationary 3D scene like this it's pretty straight-forward. If your camera is moving then it gets more tricky because then you have to match your 2D image with your 3D scene. Maya Live or some other 3rd party motion tracking software is probably what you'll be looking for in that case ...
