Hi all! I'm working in Maya 2008 and have been having some crashing issues while working on a geometry-heavy model. It was a CAD IGS file that I'd imported and I've been going through and checking normals and such trying to get it into one polygonal object. I've noticed my memory keeps climbing the more I work in Maya and eventually it crashes, particularly when I save which is decidedly inconvenient. :-) I'm wondering if there's a 32-bit issue going on with my memory since I do have 4 installed in the system but of course only 3 of it being used with XP's /3gb switch. I've had similar problems with after effects where I had to set it to a certain percentage of memory so it wouldn't try and use more and then crash on me but I'm not sure if there's a similar solution in Maya. And my problems may not be related to that but the fact that the memory gets used and doesn't seem to be freed back up once a complicated operation is through leads me to believe my crashing may be memory related.
Anyone else have any thoughts or similar problems?
