Glow Effect in Maya

Glow Effect in Maya

Ok i have created a model of U.S.S. Voyager
Autodesk Maya 8.5: ./untitled

and i would like to get the nacelles to glow like this:

In your material's attributes, there's a "special effects" menu. Set the Glow Intensity. The glow will only appear at the very end of your render (let it finish).

Now i have another question. I want to create a lighting source so the name and registry number of the ship is illuminated. I want the light to come from the windows that are circled and to cover the outlined area:

Im new to Maya and i am learning things as i go so any help would be appreciated.
