particle freeze

hi!

i'm trying to create a solar system like explosion. i'm hoping to create small point particles that quickly explode from the centre of the scene and then freeze still in space.... the camera will then track through the particles. i haven't got that much experience in particles and am a bit stumped in a few areas.

i've made the particles but how do you change the speed at which they are created and how fast they travel away from the emitter? and also i can't find how to freeze them!

any help is much appreciated!!!

Mia

Hi

I recommend you read a couple of tutorials on particles before you go on, maya has some, just so you can feel a bit comfortable with them and how they work.

for you project my aproach might be to add a radial force in the center with a volume so when they get out of them they will loose speed and freeze.

there are tons of way you could do this, and particles are a very dense topic, and you have to experiment and test a lot.

So be patient, get familiar with it, and go make your cool project.
