Animate>Create Motion Trail to a curve?

Is there a way to have Animate>Create Motion Trail output a single NURBS curve that connects the output points?

I looked at the nodes created by this command, and it included an ikSC solver. What use do you folks make of Create Motion Trail?

I want to put this command to uses for which it may not have been designed; simply outputting a very useful 3 degree curve for animating, modeling, etc.

There used to be a script on another site that output a curve from an attached point on surface a few years ago that did precisely what I'm looking for. Since, then the script may have been incorporated into Maya.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well, here's a multi step way to do it. We will develop a script to handle this more quickly.

Create an animated swwep with a a single span curve. Pick an isoparm from the resulting surface and duplicate surface curve. Done.
