Tweaking shaders
on Jun 27, 2007 at 2:42:05 pm

I have a poly object with a shader on it (who doesn't). Can I adjust the shader on a per-face basis? Like adjusting the ambient colour, but on THAT face only.

Thanks - S.

Yes, by using UV mapping and controlling your texture.

Say you want one face to be black and the others white. You can map a 'checker' texture to the object, and drag the UVs for all other faces into a black region of that texture, while dragging the UV for that single face in the white area.

Note that you can also assign a completely different shader to one or more faces on your object.
