Flagging Vector Render through the terminal / CMD line
on Jun 12, 2007 at 7:46:46 pm

I'm working on a project using the vector render of Maya 7 and was wondering if there is a way to flag this render using the terminal or cmd line rendering. Being able to use the terminal / cmd line to render will greatly reduce the amount of time needed to render. Currently I'm only able to enable the vector render when setting up a render in the actual program. Any advice you may have is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Absolutely. You can use the -r flag to specify which renderer you want Maya to use. So:

-r mr (for mental ray)
-r vr (for vector renderer)

Note that you can also run the render command with the flag '-listRenderers'. This will print out your choices as a quick and easy reminder.
