I have some glass material that projects caustics down on to a ground plane. The whole thing is going to be composited into live footage. So I tried to apply a use background texure with the specular turned black, and all reflection attributes turned down to the ground plane. The ground plane shows me the shadows I'm looking for, but if there is caustics info I don't see any color, maybe just extra density in the alpha channel of the shadow. I am rendering in layers, and have all of the layers done but this one. Been using Maya 7, and am upgrading to 8.5 later this week. Help!
