Hi guys -
I'm relatively new to 3d and I found a great website that offers a tutorial on how to create a 3d earth - http://www.oera.net/How2/Earth1.htm
Seems like all the necessary maps are there but I'm a little foggy on what to do with a couple of them - I've got the main earth texture and bump map looking good but I'm having a little trouble with the specular highlight image and the cloud layer - I mapped the specular highlight image (http://www.oera.net/How2/EarthSpec.htm) to the specular color node of my material (using a Phong E) with the goal being the oceans reflect the specular highlight while the land does not - but thats not happening and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong -
and for the cloud layer I created a slightly larger sphere , added a lambert material and mapped the cloud pic (http://www.oera.net/How2/CloudLayer.htm) to the material's transparency node - which worked great except that the clouds appear very grey - i've tried to bump up the whiteness (like brightening the ambient color) but everything i do adversly effects the "earth sphere" directly under it - am i doing this right?
thanks for any help
