I was hoping someone might have some insight into this issue I'm having rendering on my new system.
The System has a Core 2 Duo E6600 proc in it on an Intel Mobo.
When I render a frame from the application running on 2 procs, you can see the performance graph/task manager peg to 100% on both cores, until the render finishes (about 4 minutes). However, when I use mayabatch.exe to render the entire sequence, mayabatch.exe only sporadically uses the processors at all and the render times become 18 minutes a frame. We're scratching our heads as to why maya.exe would render faster than mayabatch.exe.
I'm using Maya 7.01, WindowsXPPro sp2. 2 gigs ram. Single SATA system drive, 250gb IDE secondary. The page file on the system is set to 3067MB for both min and max.
The same scene renders quickly on an AMD64 Dual Core 4400 and an Intel Dual Core 930D system just fine. The scene is optimized and contained heavy displacements and refractions in Mental Ray.
I've unblocked mayabatch.exe in the firewall as well.
Any suggestions in getting this system going the way it should?
