Maya vs Lightwave
on Jan 29, 2007 at 6:47:33 pm

I have clients who could use simple (but realistic) animations of their routers - just spinning and stopping. I need an artist who can help with this. Should I look for a lightwave person or a Maya person.

And, should I try and get existing models from the company to be imported into the software that the artist then can animate?

Thanks for the guidance

Hi, mmromo.

I will say that you should look for a Maya person, simply because I am a Maya person and would be willing to take the job. :) That being said, I'm sure Lightwave would be more than capable of producing the same results.

If 3D models of the products already exist, that will save your artist quite a bit of work, so you should definitely see if you can get them. Failing that the routers will have to be modelled from scratch, in which case a few good photos, including flat views from all angles, will be very helpful.
