fading bump map

fading bump map

I've created a cylinder with a bump map on it... I would like the bumps to be full at the top of the cylinder and faded out at the bottom... How do I get to do that... I tried putting a gradient map on the value node of the 2dbump, but it doesn't work...

any ideas?

Got it! it was just a question of playing with the projection type (U,V etc)

Hey,

I realize you've answered this already, but you could take your bump map and run it into one channel on a ramp whose values go from bump to medium gray. That should let you control the fall off
