image sequence texture fine in project but black on batch render

I have a simple lambert with file node setup as a sequence.

If I render a frame in the render view its fine and animates perfectly. But when i batch render its black.

I am not networked and the image sequence path looks fine. If I uncheck sequence then it renders 1 frame fine but i need the sequence.

I tried the interactive sequence cache thing but that made no difference.

(im on a mac, maya7)

couldnt find solution in archives.

any ideas?

thanks

They usually go black on an image sequence when the image sequence runs out. Make sure you have your settings right. It will render the current frame with an image sequence but won't in the batch render so I'll bet your image sequence ran out one way or another.

Did you find an answer to your question?.

I'm stuck with the same situation... with mental ray, I get a message at the bottom that it can't find the sequence file, which exists exactly in the same path...

thanks,

If anyone is still looking for a solution for this, I think I have finally found one. I am running Maya 2012 64 bit (so a bit after this post was created). What you need to do is:

once the shader is created with the image sequence added and the frame offset is keyed:

1. in the hypershade, right click and hold on the shader that has the image sequence on. Select the "graph network" option that pops up.

2. the shader will then be displayed in your work area in the graph editor. select the connection from the time node to the expression node and delete that connection.

3. middle mouse click amd hold on the file node, drag and let go onto the expression node. The connection editor should now pop up.

4. connect the "FrameOffset" line on the left to the "input" line on the right.

this should allow the sequance to play on your shader during a batch render.
