I want to create a 3D football in Maya and wondering if anyone has a tutorial to do this. I know it's rather simple, but I'm sort of new to Maya and want to learn more than what I might do with it... I've looked on the web, and get frustrated trying to find stuff.... so here I'm asking..
Actually that's so simple I doubt you'd find a tutorial. Barring the ridges the only thing that wouldn't be 100% obvious is the bump mapping to get the non-slip grip marks right but even that isn't a biggie either. I suggest you simply play with the CVs of a sphere and go from there. You could also revolve a curve and do half a dozen different techniques to get similar results.
