Splitting spheres at angles
on Oct 8, 2006 at 5:28:14 pm

Hello, I am trying to do some simple modelling in Maya but i have no idea how to create a shape i want: I need to take a sphere and cut it at a 30 degree or so angle to the horizontal. So there is a diagonal separation on the spehere. I then need to actually use the separate pieces and make sure they have closed faces at the cut line. How can i go about doing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated; and please be thorough as I am very new to Maya.

Thank you,
Michael Gluzman

Well, booleans can do what you want, but they are not appropriate for all projects, especially with NURBS.

Are you using NURBS or polys?
