import video clips into maya

Is there a way to bring video clips such as avi files into maya in order to animate them along with other 3d animations. I have Premiere Pro & After Effects. Thanks

Yes you can; I would do a search on that topic here as it's been discussed a lot.

Also consider rendering out of after effects as an image squence (especially if you are working with alphas) as i had some problems with importing avis, but something like a png sequence worked great for when i was matchmoving my keyed live footage.

Ayep, your best bet is to convert the AVI to an image sequence.

Keep in mind that you need to use the proper syntax, ie: "bgvideo.bmp.0001" (filename.extension.number) for Maya to be able to keyframe the background sequence.
