drawn eyes and mouth animation?

hello I was wondering how to recreate the drawn/ sticker style from traditional realword model animation in maya.

like the little blue dude here http://www.pocoyo.com/

his eyes and mouth are just projected on his head.

does anyone know of a tutorial for this kind of thing I know you could do it with several textures and animate the transparency but I just don't think that is very good work work flow.

If anyone can give me the heads up it would be cool

thanks

It's a simple texture map. You just project the texture on your head, and use the frame extension attribute of the texture map to animate it. For example, you'll have a sequnce of files called myface.0001.tga myface.0002.tga, etc
each frame is a diff face shape, then you just keyframe the frame extension to go to whatever expression you want.
hope that helps
