maya and flame

I'm producing a project that is being off-lined on FCP at DVNTSC resolution. A component of it will have a 3d creation of a product. Do I want to have the 3d product created in Flame or do I want it created in Maya and composited into my edit in Flame? Will the flame output match the colors of my FCP edit?

Any information or advice regarding a Maya, Flame, FCP work flow is greatly appreciated. Does Flame only do compositing or does it also create 3d work?

Thanks,

Mike Kroesen

I'd say for the most part you'd want to create the object in maya. While flame can import 3D objects, your a bit limited on what you can do with them (last time I used a flame was a year or two ago). You could use the flame to composite the maya animation to export to FCP tho. As far as colors go, you'll probably need to tweak the colors a tad in your edit, but it shouldnt' be too drastic if the maya guy has a good eye.
hope that helps
Chad
