im running render boxx with 3 gig of ram. in rendering by using just 1.5gig maya says "low memory".
so, the question is - how can i dirve maya to use rest of the memory?

thanks

First off, that sounds like a really big render, i'm wondering if you've got something in your scene that causing a memory leak or something. I'd make sure your scene is optimized.
By defautl, 32bit windows can only allocate 2gb of ram per app. There is a switch that lets you allocate up to 3gb, but they reccomend you have 4gb of memory for this
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/server/PAE/PAEmem.mspx

The only other way to get more memory for an app is to run a 64bit OS, but even then you need a 64bit app, which maya is not (yet).

optimization depends a lot on the scene at hand. can you post a sample render so i can see whats going on in the scene?

Hmm, doesn't look that bad. Is it nurbs? Make sure your tesselation settings aren't going through the roof.
Another approcah would be to render the scene in passes, like redering out fg, bg, and mid objects so that you don't have to have all of them loadeded at the same time.
what kind of shader are you using? that can play a role as well.
