Importing CAD files in to Maya
on Feb 17, 2006 at 7:09:52 pm

I posted this under another thread as well, but I didn't see it unders today's posts...I'll try again.

I work for a golf course design company and we are looking to pull our plans into Maya from Microstation. When we import, I can not see anything. Is there any specific settings for field of view, etc. I should be using? We would also like to import as NURBS patches...how should we save the file in Microstation to allow for this type of import into Maya? We are on Maya 6.

Thanks!

Can you try exporting from Microstation in a file format like DXF or IGES? If I were you, I would try some simple tests first. Create a simple sphere or other object in Microstation and try exporting it using different file formats, then see which gives you the best results importing into Maya.
