3ds max objects in maya
on Jan 26, 2006 at 3:48:44 pm

i will be working on a project in maya and the client wants to purchase and use models of famous buildings. So far most of the 3d models of famous buildings that I've found are in 3ds max which we dont' own nor do I know how to use. I was wondering if there is anyway to import 3ds models into maya?

Thanks for any advice.

there is a 3ds importer plugin included in the maya bonus tools for whatever version of maya you may be running.

That importer works with 3DS Max as well as .3DS?

no, just 3ds...you'll need max to open max files. I'm not sure if filmbox plugin can handle it, it might

i have done this alot and to me i use RIGHT HEMISPHERE DEEP EXPLORATION software it does a great job of converting 3ds max files to mb or ma file that can be used in maya directly without any further file conversion it also works vice versa so to me it's far better than okino polytrans and i know it will do a great job for you too. enjoy !!!!
not forgeting to mention that this amp will do more things for yu. so it's worth investing in.
