How can you get random (per particle) rotation to instanced spheres in Maya 7?

I'm not on Maya 7, but I expect that you can use a particle expression just as you can do in earlier versions.

Add a 'userVector1PP' attribute to your particle object, then select that attribute for Rotation in the instancing attributes. Use a particle expression to randomize the vector attribute and you're all set. For random, unchanging rotation values between 1 and 180 (not sure if degrees are appropriate, or if it should be radians), it could be as simple as:

     particleShape1.userVector1PP = sphrand(<<180,180,180>>);

Post again if you need help with any of those steps. Good luck!
