can't export to ascii .ma

something weird that has never happened to me.. I just have a poly mesh... nothing else in the scene... i want to export it to .MA.

When I try I get this message

"File contains unknown nodes or data. To preserve this information,the current file type cannot be changed."

So I when the outhliner, the hypergraph, deleted everything except the model.. I still get the same thing.

Thanks!

Try deleting the history on the mesh. Don't know if that will help, but that's what I'd do next.

Thanks, I did all that.. It's no big deal really because I just exported it as an OBJ and opened it in an earlier version of maya.. which is maya 5.. now I have 6.5 and it's giving me the probs.. maya 5 isn't.

What you see in the Hypergraph, Outliner etc. is dependent on what nodes you've allowed it to show. I had several unknown nodes being generated from old plugins scripts that I had stopped using but were being generated and called everytime I launched Maya that needed to be cleaned out.

A simple way is in the command line select -all;

Then unselect your geom etc. then press delete

delete -type "unKnown"; also kills unKnown nodes in a scene etc.
