Hey guys

I have moved into the realm of animation...not that I've mastered anything else..just moving on. Can't let the "man" hold me in one place. Here's my scenario and question....

I finally got the 'lightbulb' with boning and skinning. I have a character (elephant) for whom I'm creating a short walk cycle. I've got it set up in 3 main points (pre and post-foot roll)with 2 intermediate steps (foot rolls). When I keyframe the leg bones, they don't stay keyframed. As I advance from Keyframe to keyframe, they revert back to some weird position. Should I be keyframing the IK handles instead? I started trying that and it seems to work...so far. If none of that made sense, let me know....I tend to ramble.

Thanks in advance as always.

Yes, that's exactly right.

If you have an IK handle, then at each frame, the bones will rotate to follow the handle. That's what it's for. Just key the motion of the handle and the bones will follow.

(It can get more complex, of course, with IK/FK switching and so on, but this is the most basic IK workflow.)

Good luck!
