render logs
on Sep 2, 2005 at 10:36:00 pm

Hi, guys. I'm having problems with my render and muster is telling me to see the logs for details ... where are they? I'm on win2K runnin 6.0.1. A search in help mostly pointed to licensing logs and how to enable or disable it.

Thanks.

I believe there is a master log file called maya.log or render.log in the MAYA_APP_DIR which defaults to My DocumentsmayaX.X where X.X is the version

I sure don't see it. Is there an option in maya to not log? Maybe mine is turned off. I searched my entire C drive for *.log and it pulled up nothing related to maya that I could find.

I'll have to look when I get to my computer, I'm sure its there somewhere, it may have a .txt extension on windows. Try doing a search for maya.* in the meantime.

yeah whenever you render anything in maya, either interactive or batch, it dumps the output into this renderlog file. You'll probably see entries from months ago in there. There is a way to re-route the log to another place, I think its an environment variable as well as the command line render command has a -log flag in the new versions.
