Video card for Maya on a Mac
on Aug 6, 2005 at 6:27:13 am

Hello,

I am planning to buy a G5 soon, but I have used PCs all my life, and I know nothing about Mac hardware. Sorry for asking this question here but I couldnt find the answer searching the posts.

I also tried looking at the Alias website but all the cards they list have some strange limitations and bugs.

Is there a video card that can run Maya on a Mac with little or no glitches? Any specific model worth checking out?

Any help is truly appreciated.

kind regards
renato

I'm on the ATI Radeon x800 at work and haven't had any problems so far (on 6.5). The new Radeon x850 XT is a build to order feature at the Apple store, might wanna look into that. Was getting good reviews on PC sites.

Hello,

I kind of had my eyes on the 850XT on the apple website, but I wasnt sure if it would work well or not with Maya. I am gonna search for some of those magazine reviews to see what the card can do, but its great to hear some input from someone that is actually running it on a daily basis. Thanks a lot for the reply.

kind regards
