Removing a paint spot
on Jul 18, 2005 at 5:30:04 pm

hi, i am new to maya and am having a really simple problem which i dont know how to address. I built a cannon and accidently painted a spot on it which is only visible in rendered footage. How can i remove it? I am using 6.0 unlimited if it makes any difference.

If you painted it using Maya's PaintF/X engine, then it's easy to get rid of. If you painted it on a file texture which you have applied to the object, then you will have to clean it up in the image editing software you used to create the texture.

Assuming it's a PaintF/X spot, there should be a curve somewhere in your scene that has a 'Stroke' node attached to it. If you can find that curve, just select it and delete it. If you can't find it easily for some reason, you could always just 'Select All by Type -> Strokes' and then delete all the strokes in the scene... assuming there aren't any other PaintF/X strokes that you want to keep.

Good luck!
