Duplicate along a curve
on Jun 26, 2005 at 4:41:04 am

Just finished up a small project where I made a vegas-looking cheesy sign with lightbulbs outlining the words. I couldn't seem to find a solution that didn't involve some expressions so I thought I'd ask here for future reference. Is there a mel script or some feature in Maya that will allow you to duplicate an object along a selected curve?

Yep, you want Animation Snapshot.

You animate the object moving along the path over time, then use this tool to effectively bake a duplicate of the object at each frame of the animation. Perfect for this sort of thing.
