Morphing text to smoke
on May 9, 2005 at 2:45:38 pm

Hey,

I wanted to know if there is a way to morph text to smoke in maya 6. I'm sure I've seen a tutorial online a while ago about this but I can't seem to find it now. Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Mike

You could use standard particles (emit from object) or you could use fluids (use file as source of fluid).

Thanks for the reply.
Would both of those methods work using 3D text? I forgot to mention that in my first post. I haven't been able to give what you suggested a try yet because I've been working on a computer all day that doesn't have Maya ;)

Thanks again,

Mike

Yes. In a 3d volume use object as emitter of fluid. Standard particles will do the same. They will just render differently depending on the look you are after (and how much time you have). ;)

There is a tut on the Maya site . I believe you have to be a subscriber (at least Bronze). Its a smoke to text tut using the Alias logo but it's really just reversed to create that effect. Search for this project:
